Attending the Graduation Ceremony
- Robing is at Park Square campus. It is advisable that your family and friends do not accompany you when collecting your robe as this causes congestion. You can collect your robe from 8.15am for the morning ceremony or 11.00am for the afternoon ceremony.
- It is essential that you make your way to the students meeting point no later than one hour prior to the start of the ceremony - this allows time for you to be placed in the correct order for entering the church. Once you are in the meeting point for marshalling, parents/friends will not have personal contact with you until after the ceremony.
- Please note it is wise to let parents or friends carry any heavy baggage you may have with you as the seat you occupy before the presentation may not be the seat you return to afterwards.
- You will be directed and escorted from the meeting point to the church by staff ushers and seated in your respective order.
- The ceremony will commence with the entrance of the Academics and Platform Party, they will parade through the church, down the side aisle to the font and then down the centre aisle and take their seats on the platform.
- When you hear your name announced you will ascend the platform where you will shake hands with the three dignitaries and be presented with a scroll. Please ensure you return to your seat via the central aisle as instructed.
- After the ceremony your gown should be returned to Park Square. Please ensure that family and friends do not enter the gowning room as this causes congestion.
- Photographers will be available at Park Square before and after the ceremony.
- From past experience, several small safety pins are extremely useful to assist in positioning academic dress - especially for female graduands.
- If you have any issues please speak to a member of staff on the day - we are here to help make your day one to remember.
